Life Lessons From Mom On Business

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and friends that helped to raise you. As I think about Mother’s Day, I think back to all the life lessons that she has shared with us and how they also relate to business.

#1. Stay True To Who You Are

This is a really important point for all businesses. Try not to be everything to everybody, unless you are Walmart or Amazon. Stay true to who you serve and what you provide for them. You’ve probably heard that the riches are in the niches. Providing products and services that support the lane that you are in, will greatly help your growth because you are known for what you do.

#2 Surround Yourself With People You Trust

No one grows a successful company all by themselves. You should surround yourself with a team and advisors. A team can help you get more done and leverage time and skill of others. Advisors can help you solve problems, find shortcuts, provide knowledge, and experience to help you find the best track to grow your company. At every stage of your business, a team and advisors will make your company run better.

#3 Take Chances

Entrepreneurship is all about taking chances in hopes of a great return. So, this one should be a no brainer. Taking calculated chances creates innovation in the products and services you provide. Innovation can also be a way to speed up a process, improve safety, or reduce costs. Taking chances can also be on a new launch, a new market, or a new employee. Take chances in your business and grow.

#4 You Can Achieve Anything

Moms want the best for us and believe we can do anything we set our minds to. No limiting beliefs to hold us back here. Really, we can do anything, we just have to figure it out and take action. Do you want to do something new? Build out the plan with the strategy, tactics, timelines, and responsibilities. Take action, measure, and modify your progress. Soon you too can achieve anything. Now, I just sound like a mom.

These are just a couple of life lessons that moms typically share with their kids to help become better people and business folks. Go ask mom what her favorite bits of wisdom she can share with you. I know you can use her great philosophy in your business. Thanks, Mom!
